The cycle route begins its journey along France’s Atlantic coast, on the Vélomaritime, offering cyclists breathtaking ocean views. It skirts the northern coast of Brittany, with its wild landscapes and charming villages, before entering the rich history of Normandy, with the discovery of the famous Mont Saint-Michel and the famous D-Day beaches.
Continuing north, EuroVelo 4 enters Belgium and the verdant landscapes of Flanders. Chocolate and beer lovers will be delighted by the gastronomic delights on offer along the way. Entering the Netherlands, the cycle route passes colorful tulip fields and a total immersion in Dutch culture. Iconic windmills and peaceful polders add a touch of rural charm to this part of the journey.
In Germany, the cycle route follows the meandering Rhine, revealing the millennia-old history of this river that has been crucial to trade since Antiquity. Then it’s on to the Czech Republic. The route winds its way through medieval towns such as Cheb and the thermal gems of Karlovy Vary, before venturing on to Prague, where the majesty of the Vltava mingles with history.
EuroVelo 4 ends in Eastern Europe, crossing southern Poland and Ukraine. This section has not yet been fully developed, and the geopolitical situation in the country means that it is not yet fully developed.
