The first stage of this cycling adventure takes travelers from Andermatt to Lake Constance, offering a loop through the Alpine peaks, where cyclists can savor grandiose panoramas. From Lake Constance, the cycle route heads west to Basel, a cultural crossroads where Switzerland, France and Germany converge. This picturesque stretch runs along the banks of the Rhine, allowing cyclists to explore architectural and natural treasures such as the famous Schaffhausen Falls and charming riverside villages.
Crossing the Franco-German border, EuroVelo 15 offers a cycling journey along the wine route and through the most beautiful villages of the Alsace region. Cyclists pass through Strasbourg, a lively European capital, before continuing westwards to Karlsruhe in Germany. The German part reveals cultural and gastronomic treasures along the vineyards of the Markgräfler and the Baroque monuments of Rastatt. Safe crossings allow you to cross the Rhine, harmoniously linking the two banks and offering a diversity of landscapes and cultures to discover.
The journey continues through the majestic castles and vineyards of the UNESCO Upper Middle Rhine Valley, immersing you in Germany’s history and natural beauty. Cologne and Düsseldorf, with their iconic cathedrals and vibrant modernity, add touches of urban dynamism to this odyssey. Finally, in the Netherlands, EuroVelo 15 blends into the meandering Rhine, revealing unique landscapes and historical treasures such as the windmills of Kinderdijk and the contemporary metropolis of Rotterdam.
