  • The port of Paimpol
  • The charm of Tréguier's half-timbered houses
  • The island of Brehat and its palette of colors
  • The lighthouse and rocks of Ploumanac'h

From Lannion to the island of Brehat, along the Breton coast

The splendid landscapes of the Pink Granite Coast guarantee an unforgettable journey.

Lannion is the beginning and the end of your journey. Upon arrival, stroll through its cobbled streets, flower-filled quays and admire its half-timbered houses.

This is the start of your cycling trip as you head towards the sea and reach the charming little town of Perros-Guirec, a famous seaside resort on the Pink Granite Coast. Here, the rocks and their natural shapes are unique and soothing.

The entrance to the town of Tréguier is guarded by two 17th century pavilions. Stroll through the town, past half-timbered houses, shipowners’ residences and the birthplace of Ernest Renan. Your adventure continues to Paimpol and its fishing port. Paimpol’s shipowners’ houses bear witness to the town’s rich and prosperous cod fishing past. The local gastronomy is based on seafood, but also combines well with the local horticulture. The light, sandy soil is ideal for growing crops. And products from these fertile, nutritious soils fill markets throughout the region. For example, it is easy to find Paimpolese cocos, the white beans that make up the cassoulet de la mer prepared by the town’s chefs. The tradition and know-how of cod also allow us to offer it in an incredible variety of dishes.

During your trip, you’ll embark for the island of Brehat. Brehat is blessed with a mild microclimate, which means it can be visited all year round. Brehat sailors brought back exotic species of flowers, making Bréhat a very flowery and colorful island. The Agapanthus (lily of the Nile) is the island’s symbol, adding blue and mauve to the island’s color palette from April to September.

Day 1

LANNION

Your adventure begins in Lannion. We meet there to prepare for your departure. Evening on your own in Lannion.

Meeting with our local guide

Before your first ride, we invite you to meet one of our guides, at your place of departure. A time of exchange, a privileged moment to give you our last practical tips, must-see places and experiences, to answer all your questions, take care of your bike fitting to begin your trip.

Day 2

From LANNION to PLOUMANAC’H 40km 395m Niveau Forme

Follow the meandering Léguer before reaching the Pointe de Bihit, with its remarkable panoramic views over the Bay of Lannion and the surrounding beaches, and then on to Trébeurden, where the harbour and Île Milliau are captivatingly wild. A visit to the Radôme park invites you to discover the famous white dome, the planetarium and the Gallic village, which combine science, history and entertainment. The route continues towards Kérénoc, through the rolling countryside typical of the region, to arrive at Tourony. Here, the fine sandy beaches and Costaérès castle emerge in an enchanting setting. Finally, Ploumanac’h, in the heart of the pink granite coast, welcomes you with its unusual rock shapes, sculpted by the wind and waves. Leave your bike behind and walk along the coastal path to admire the pink rocks sculpted by the wind and sea.

Day 3

From PLOUMANAC’H to TREGUIER 30km 330m Niveau Loisir

You leave the beautiful seaside resort of Perros-Guirec and follow the wild coast in its irregular contours. The rose gradually withdraws and gives way to the gorse coast . You reach the tip of the Castle to discover the famous “house between the rocks”. A few steps away, the Chasm of Castel Meur. On stormy days, the sea howls with a rare intensity by the crash of the waves and the wind against the rocks. Throughout the day, many panoramas give you a breathtaking view of the horizon. You go up along the Jaudy to the small town of Tréguier. The church, the alleys and many granite and half-timbered houses are the hallmark of this village.

  • For a few more km 53km 660m Niveau Forme

We suggest you take a tour of the Pointe du Château de Plougrescant and stop for a moment at the Gouffre de Castel Meur, where on stormy days the rocks vibrate and the wind and raging elements howl with rare intensity at the force of the nearby ocean. The rest of the route takes you past Port-Blanc and its sentinel. There are plenty of panoramic views over the horizon.

Day 4

From TREGUIER to PAIMPOL 19km 146m Niveau Loisir

You cross Tréguier, beautiful small city of character and the Jaudy which it borders. Along the Trieux, you reach the small town of Lézardrieux. Set back from the sea but bathed by the waters of the Channel, the village is perched on the edge of the estuary. You cross the Trieux and leave Trégor to join Goëlo. Paimpol is the largest port. It is on the quays that your stage ends, leaving you the end of the day to discover this fishing town.

  • For a few more km 46km 520m Niveau Forme

You play with the coast, enjoying both beautiful sea views and shady country roads. The Talbert groove, a sand and pebble point of great geological interest offers you a short walk where you will find yourself in the middle of the water!

Day 5

PAIMPOL, DAY ON THE ISLAND OF BREHAT 12km 118m Niveau Facile

From Paimpol, make your way to the landing stage for the island of Bréhat, a jewel not to be missed. You have several options: go by bike and leave your mount at the pier to explore the island on foot, a recommended solution for making the most of the trails. You can also take your bike with you on the boat and cycle there, or opt for a cheaper alternative: hire a bike on the island, which is less expensive than transporting your own bike by sea, while avoiding the timetables imposed on cyclists. Finally, a direct bus from the SNCF station will take you to the pier for a walking tour.

Nicknamed the “Island of Flowers”, Bréhat offers enchanting landscapes: wild coves, low stone walls and exotic gardens. Car-free, the island can be explored in peace between its two main islets linked by a bridge, in a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for getting away from it all.

Day 6

From PAIMPOL to LANNION 48km 399m Niveau Loisir

From one port to another, enjoy a rural day connecting you with small stone villages, often blooming with beautiful hydrangeas. In blue or pink, they decorate the entrances and beds of the granite houses.

You ride to Tréguier, a small town of character built on the banks of the Jaudy, which offers a pleasant and refreshing break. You follow the signs of the Vélomaritime, which follows the small roads of the market gardens.

  • For a few more km 52km 512m Niveau Forme

You discover some small Breton cities of character labelled: La Roche Derrien and especially Pontrieux. The latter owes its name to the bridge that crosses the Trieux – the river that separates the Goëlo from the Trégor, two historical countries of seigneurial Brittany. Under the bridge and on the banks of the river, a treasure is hidden: the washhouses of Pontrieux. Let yourself be tempted by the barge ride offered in the village, which will allow you to learn a little more about the importance of the town, still dressed in granite.

10/2024

The ride along the canal into Aigues-mortes was absolutely beautiful. We saw so many different birds and the fish were jumping out of the water. We also enjoyed the aqua duct, the flamingos and the ramparts in Aigues-morte. The included breakfasts were a hugh bonus . We appreciated the restaurant recommendations as they were all so wonderful. Having our luggage waiting for us at each stop was also great. The supplied Nav system and corresponding app was a fantastic feature.

Thank you for the fabulous service and immediate response to our questions. We will be sure to tell everyone how wonderful it was to do a cycling trip with your company. You are well organized, well prepared, and seemed to have thought of everything we could possibly want or need. These days it is so rare to have such a fabulous experience. Thank you so very much.
