Les points forts
- The most beautiful coastal roads
- A stage in Mont Saint-Michel
- The ports that make the charm of Brittany
- The Pink Granite Coast
A multi-stage stay along the Breton coast of the Channel
Ride from Rennes to Roscoff passing by the Mont Saint-Michel and Saint-Malo
From the Breton capital you join the sea and its most beautiful panoramas. You make steps or cross beautiful cities that are the charm of the region:
- The Mont-Saint-Michel, a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has recently regained its status as an island following a very interesting project to discover.
- Saint-Malo, an intramural city that sometimes seems straight out of an adventure novel, a city where it is not uncommon to cross paths with a corsair in its alleys
- Dinan, a beautifully preserved medieval city
- Erquy and Paimpol, the charming little ports specializing in scallops
- Perros-Guirec, a seaside resort on the famous Pink Granite Coast
To reach these stage cities, you weave on small hilly roads between land and sea. You follow in the footsteps of one of the greatest cycling champions that the great loop has known, nicknamed “The Badger”.
Along the Emerald Coast, the call of the open sea is felt. At Cap Fréhel, where on the circuit of the cliffs in Plouha, you enjoy beautiful roads 70 meters above the sea. The cliffs are impressive and offer all the originality of this course.
Itinéraire
From RENNES to MONT-SAINT-MICHEL 111km 837m
You leave the Breton capital to join Normandy for one night. On the small roads of romantic Brittany, you ride towards the sea. The spire of the abbey of Mont Saint-Michel is emerging little by little, until the whole island finally appears!
- For a few more km 132km 923m
Enjoy a few more kilometers in the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel. Admire the beauty of this rocky islet from different angles. It’s time to take some great photos!
FROM MONT SAINT-MICHEL TO SAINT-MALO 75km 429m
Your cycling route runs along the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel and the Emerald Coast. Between land and sea your path will take you to meet local producers: Oyster growers, mussel farmers, breeders … So many specialties that you can taste throughout your stay. Take advantage of your break in Cancale to taste its famous horse oysters.
- For a few more km 105km 838m
On this long version, you’ll pass through François-René de Chateaubriand’s historic town of Combourg, offering a romantic and sporty variation.
From SAINT-MALO to LAMBALLE 130km 1487m
Along the sea, you ride from port to port and from cape to cape. After the beautiful villas of Dinard, the port of Saint-Cast and Erquy presents its colorful boats. Between the two, Cap Fréhel and its impressive cliffs rising to over 70 meters above the sea. The stage ends in lush greenery, in a quiet hotel mansion.
From LAMBALLE to PAIMPOL 136km 1393m
You go back to the sea at Yffiniac, a commune that saw Bernard Hinault grow, cycling hero of the country. The circuit continues from port to port … Binic, Saint-Quay and soon Paimpol, all of them scallop specialists. On the roads of the circuit of the cliffs, in Plouha, the course offers you still one of the most beautiful point of views of this north Breton coast. Evening and night on the port of Paimpol.
From PAIMPOL to PERROS-GUIREC 89km 947m
From the blue to the pink of its coast, a surprising spectacle that you can enjoy for tens of kilometers! Before reaching Port-Blanc, an incursion into the land leads you through two small cities of character: La Roche-Derrien and Tréguier. Architecture and history complete the pleasures of the day!
- For a few more km 106km 1070m
You drive a little further into the argoat to discover the Breton regional heritage.
From PERROS-GUIREC to ROSCOFF 115km 950m
Along the bay of Lannion and the Bay of Morlaix, the small coastal roads take you further west. Chapels and mansions regularly punctuate the roadside as you sink into the Leon. It is on the port of Roscoff, small city of character that this stage ends.
ROSCOFF
End of the stay in Roscoff. If you have some time, embark for the island of Batz and walk on this little paradise!
