An ideal tour for families looking for adventure
Discover Lake Constance through its three countries: Germany, Switzerland and Austria. You pedal peacefully through fabulous landscapes.
Lake Constance, located on the border of Germany, Switzerland and Austria, is the perfect setting for a beautiful and relaxing family vacation. Coupled with the beauty of its landscapes, the diversity of cultures gives the Lake Constance region a special charm.
With its network of bicycle paths and routes specific to families on bikes, Lake Constance is the perfect place for cycling. Along the way, you will discover the wonders of the region. To begin with, the city of Constance has a lot to offer with its well-preserved old town and its elegant old buildings. The beautiful rococo church in Birnau is also a must-see. Other attractive cities such as Meersburg, Friedrichshafen with its Zeppelin museum, offer good moments of cultural relaxation. The exotic architecture and the gourmet specialties will amaze and reward your children’s efforts.
If the loop around Lake Constance offers several architectural jewels, it also offers fascinating natural sights such as the Rhine delta near Bregenz in Austria or the island of Mainau. All of this under the gaze of the alpine peaks that overlook the region. The proximity of Lake Constance on all your cycling stages allows you to enjoy a refreshing swim that both young and old appreciate. The numerous ice cream parlors around the lake make for a particularly tasty snack for the young ones, and will leave them with some indelible memories of their cycling vacation.
Varied and very accessible, this family cycling trip in the heart of Europe offers an enchanting and colorful interlude. Great family emotions guaranteed!
Note: An 8 day version of this tour is also available upon request. An extra day is added in Friedrichshafen, including a bike tour to the Ravensburger Spieleland amusement park.
CONSTANCE, boucle de Unteruhldingen 30km
First you cycle to Wallhausen, from where the boat takes you to the other side of the lake to Überlingen. Always along the lake you go to the monastery church Birnau, where you can enjoy a great view of
the lake. In Unteruhldingen you will visit the prehistoric pile dwellings. From Meersburg, the car ferry takes you back to Constance.
From CONSTANCE to FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, via Meersburg 25km
From Constance, take the ferry to Meersburg. In Meersburg, take time to stroll through the old town. A guided tour of Meersburg Castle is also a fascinating and recommended experience (non-included). Today’s destination, Friedrichshafen, has a great Zeppelin museum which we recommend you visit. It tells you everything there is to know about the history of these aircrafts. From the Friedrichshafen waterfront promenade you can enjoy a beautiful view
of the lake and the Alps.
From FRIEDRICHSHAFEN to LINDAU 30km
When you haven’t visitied the Zeppelin Museum so far, you should do that today! The way to Lindau goes by quickly, so you have more than enough time to check out the famous Zeppelin airships. Afterwards you cycle through Langenargen with its pretty Montfort Castle to the Bavarian town of Lindau, whose harbour is watched over by a 6-metre high lion.
From LINDAU to ARBON 40km
Today, departing from Lindau, towards Bregenz in Austria. Lindau and Bregenz, two very lively cities, are famous for their annual festivals. After Bregenz, you cross the Rhine delta which is an important nature reserve. Here you are at the second border crossing of your day as you enter Switzerland where you spend the night in the Höchst/Rorschach region.
From ARBON to CONSTANCE 35km
You start this stage in Switzerland on the southern shore of Lake Constance. On the road to Konstanz, you pass Romanshorn, the largest port in Switzerland. Along the way, let yourself be lulled by the tranquility of the place. Once in Konstanz, you may visit the island of Mainau if you wish.
