A cycling trip in Brittany by the Armorican coast
Along the Pink Granite Coast, compose a 3 to 7 days cycling cruise from Perros-Guirec to the Bréhat island!
From Lannion, you ride to the Pink Granite Coast in Perros Guirec. After a beautiful start in the Brittany countryside near the wild coast, you arrive at the foot of the Ploumanac’h lighthouse. The spectacle of pink granite rocks begins!
Heading east, the style changes. The pink tone loses its intensity, but the coast up to Tréguier, a small town character, remains wild and chaotic. It offers many surprises like the Pointe du Chateau and the famous house in Castel Meur.
You spend a night in a typical Breton manor, which offers a moment of peace and quiet before getting back to the coastal agitation, especially on the ports.
The next day, succumb to the charms of Brittany’s historic fishing ports. The ride takes you to Paimpol, one of its most famous. On the port the city offers many festivities: traditional singing and old ships festivals, sailing boat races and ceremonies honoring those lost at sea. It also shares a rich history with Terre-Neuve where strong spirited paimpolais sailors sailed every year for several months. The cod is still a culinary specialty here and worth a taste. To end this long weekend, take a boat to the Bréhat island a flowery jewel of the North Coast.
You can enjoy this trip with an easy version of 20 to 29 km per day or a moderate version of 40 to 60 km per day. If you wish to extend your stay, we recommend excursions around the Seven Islands off the coast of Perros-Guirec and a bike ride to Pontrieux, labeled small historic town in Brittany (available for the 5 to 7 day trips).
Itinéraire
From PLOUMANAC’H to TREGUIER 30km 330m
You leave the beautiful seaside resort of Perros-Guirec and follow the wild coast in its irregular contours. The rose gradually withdraws and gives way to the gorse coast . You reach the tip of the Castle to discover the famous “house between the rocks”. A few steps away, the Chasm of Castel Meur. On stormy days, the sea howls with a rare intensity by the crash of the waves and the wind against the rocks. Throughout the day, many panoramas give you a breathtaking view of the horizon. You go up along the Jaudy to the small town of Tréguier. The church, the alleys and many granite and half-timbered houses are the hallmark of this village.
- For a few more km 53km 660m
We suggest you take a tour of the Pointe du Château de Plougrescant and stop for a moment at the Gouffre de Castel Meur, where on stormy days the rocks vibrate and the wind and raging elements howl with rare intensity at the force of the nearby ocean. The rest of the route takes you past Port-Blanc and its sentinel. There are plenty of panoramic views over the horizon.
From TREGUIER to PAIMPOL 19km 146m
You cross Tréguier, beautiful small city of character and the Jaudy which it borders. Along the Trieux, you reach the small town of Lézardrieux. Set back from the sea but bathed by the waters of the Channel, the village is perched on the edge of the estuary. You cross the Trieux and leave Trégor to join Goëlo. Paimpol is the largest port. It is on the quays that your stage ends, leaving you the end of the day to discover this fishing town.
- For a few more km 46km 520m
You play with the coast, enjoying both beautiful sea views and shady country roads. The Talbert groove, a sand and pebble point of great geological interest offers you a short walk where you will find yourself in the middle of the water!
PAIMPOL, DAY ON THE ISLAND OF BREHAT 12km 118m
FROM PAIMPOL, PONTRIEUX LOOP 41km 371m
This cycle tour will take you through Pontrieux, a small town full of character. You will cross what was for a long time the first bridge over the Trieux at its mouth, an eminently strategic point. The banks of the Trieux also provide an opportunity to discover the Château de la Roche-Jagu. A stopover between Trégor and Goëlo in the Breton countryside.
